Durkin's has been a downtown fixture since 2014, and the burger is the reason why — house-ground beef, house-made cheese, dill mayo, house pickles, built into a sandwich regulars call one of the best in Spokane. Beyond the burger, the fried bologna sandwich, crispy Brussels sprouts, and calamari round out a menu that pairs equally well with a quiet upstairs dinner or a livelier night in the speakeasy-style basement bar, complete with the building's original tin ceiling.
There's been a chef transition in the past few years, and a handful of reviews describe a rougher visit during that changeover — a bland dish, a slower night. Most of it reads as growing pains rather than a lasting dip, and the burger's reputation hasn't budged. Still a great downtown pick for drinks, a casual dinner, or both.
