Frank's Diner

I've eaten here more times than I can count, and Frank's has never once let me down — from the corned beef hash to the Benedicts, everything that comes out of that kitchen is consistently delicious.

Frank's Diner isn't trying to be anything other than exactly what it is — a genuinely great diner with a genuinely great story. The restored 1906 railcar has real history behind it: built as a private car for a railroad president, later a beloved Seattle diner for sixty years before making its way to Spokane. A longtime run as one of Spokane's Best Breakfast winners doesn't happen by accident — the chicken fried steak, corned beef hash, and Creole omelette are the kind of dishes people plan mornings around, and the Boar Bacon Club has plenty of devoted fans at lunch.

It's locally owned and operated, and it's run like a place that intends to be here for the long haul — vintage railcars out front, and a kitchen that hasn't stopped paying attention behind them.

The one thing to plan for: there's no taking reservations, and weekend mornings can mean a real wait — twenty to forty minutes isn't unusual. It's worth every bit of it. Frank's remains one of Spokane's true breakfast institutions and one of the most satisfying, character-filled meals in the city.
