Their website advertises 'the best breakfast in Spokane.' I won't go quite that far, but it's a solid choice for a hearty European-style breakfast or lunch.

Old European has been a North Spokane breakfast institution built on founder "Grandma Marie's" recipes, recognized as one of the 8 Best Breakfasts in Washington and a Visit Spokane Best Brunch honoree. The Danish aebelskivers, Swedish crepes, and Hungarian goulash anchor a genuinely large, distinctive menu, and it's regularly full enough that regulars consider the wait part of the routine.

A vocal minority feel the "European" branding oversells fairly Americanized comfort food, and a few recent reviews mention rising prices and inconsistent execution (a dry new brisket Benedict, watery gravy). Long-time regulars remain very loyal, though, and it's still a destination-worthy breakfast stop.
