Foodie Review
The Barrel Steak & Seafood House
North Spokane · Steak & Seafood (Formerly S.S. Beryl)
We haven't made it in for a visit yet, so this one's built from what fellow diners and locals are saying — we'll update it with our own take once we've pulled up a chair.
The Barrel is a genuine hidden gem in North Spokane, built on hand-selected Pacific Northwest beef with a proprietary herb blend — the prime rib, ribeye with scallops, and halibut are the dishes most often called out, served in a cozy "mid-fancy" atmosphere with a well-loved garden patio. It offers upscale flavor without downtown fine-dining prices, which is a big part of its appeal.
Inconsistency is the fair critique — a great steak one visit, a fatty or undercooked one another — and the lack of a permanent hostess has led to some awkward waits at the door. Still, specific servers get repeatedly praised by name in reviews, and this remains a strong pick for anniversaries and celebrations.
