A Browne's Addition institution. Great vibes, and I love their Reuben.

The Elk sits on West Pacific in the middle of Browne's Addition, and it functions the way a neighborhood pub is supposed to — sandwiches done properly, a patio people fight over in summer, and a room that fills with the same faces. It's the sort of place that earns a Best Bar Food reputation by making bar food that isn't an afterthought.

Two things to plan for. It's small, and on a warm evening the patio is spoken for well before you get there. Parking in Browne's Addition is its own event. Go on a weeknight and you'll get the version of the Elk that people are actually talking about.
