Known for their Pan-Asian fusion and amazing desserts. I've been a huge fan of their Chicken Osaka for years.
The Mustard Seed has been feeding Spokane pan-Asian food long enough that a lot of people here grew up on it, and the North Division dining room is still the one most regulars mean. The cooking is fusion in the older, unfussy sense — recognizable dishes done consistently — and the dessert menu has a following of its own.
It isn't chasing anything new, and that's worth knowing going in. If you want a modern, chef-driven take on Asian cooking, Spokane has newer options. If you want the dish you've ordered for fifteen years to taste the way it always has, this is where that happens.
