The Oval Office Bistro & Martini Bar

The Oval Office sits a block down Spokane Street from The White House Grill, in the building that housed the original White House — which is a nice piece of symmetry for the second restaurant Raci Erdem opened. It dates to 2008, was rebuilt from the ground up, and reopened in late 2024, so what is there now is effectively a new restaurant wearing an old name. The kitchen describes itself as Northwest cuisine with a foreign flair: steaks, an ever-changing fresh fish selection, and a long list of shareable plates, with martinis and wines named after political figures and a happy hour that runs twice a day, from two to five and again from nine until close.

Two things worth knowing before you go. It seats about seventy-five between tables, a counter, and a fireplace patio, so it fills quickly and it is not the room for a large group without planning. And because of the rebuild, a fair amount of what is online describes the restaurant that stood here before — old photos and old reviews do not necessarily describe the place you will walk into, so trust the recent ones. For a quiet dinner or a late martini on the Idaho side, early word on the new room is good.
