A great choice in Kendall Yards. I love sitting downstairs — it always feels a little like a secret. The yellowtail collar is a must-have.
Umi Kitchen brings a genuinely distinctive two-level concept to Kendall Yards — a bright, contemporary dining room upstairs and a moody, fireplace-equipped 21+ lounge downstairs with a covered patio overlooking the Spokane River, from experienced sushi chefs Tong Liu and Haru Wang. The stuffed pumpkin roll, sashimi bento box, honey walnut shrimp, and spicy lamb chops lead a menu that pairs well with the lounge's Asian-inspired cocktails and wine dispenser system.
Noise and table spacing upstairs, plus inconsistent value on an off visit, are the main critiques — one reviewer called it overpriced for average quality. Other feedback is much more enthusiastic, especially about the downstairs lounge experience, which is genuinely one of the more unique settings for sushi in the city.
