We haven't made it in for a visit yet, so this one's built from what fellow diners and locals are saying — we'll update it with our own take once we've pulled up a chair.

Vieux Carré brings genuine French Quarter energy to a renovated 1903 building downtown, and it's good enough that New Orleans transplants say it holds up to the real thing. The gumbo, jambalaya, and crab-stuffed beignets lead the menu, backed by classic NOLA cocktails like the Vieux Carré and Ramos Gin Fizz, all served in a lush, greenery-filled room that's genuinely a step apart from anything else in Spokane's dining scene.

Seasoning consistency is the fair critique — some visits land the gumbo or jambalaya perfectly balanced, others find it too salty or too spicy, and there's no reservations on the busiest nights, so plan for a wait. Still, this is one of the more distinctive, well-executed concepts in the city and a great pick for a celebratory dinner or a "let's try something different" night.
